Job Opening for Youth Drama Camp Coordinator

Seeking a Youth Drama Camp Coordinator
For June 24-28 in Burlington

Do you have experience teaching theater projects or public speaking skills to elementary or middle school kids? Do you enjoy using performance art to educate and empower? Do you have experience working creatively with kids to develop and perform skits that both entertain and educate? Are you passionate about helping kids make healthy choices? If you answered yes, yes, yes – we have an exciting opportunity to put your skills and passion to good use!

We are seeking an individual or pair to facilitate a weeklong substance abuse prevention theater camp for middle school youth in Burlington and Winooski as part of the Burlington-Winooski Middle School Summer Program.

The camp dates are set. The middle schoolers will attend. Now we just need a director! This contracted position will receive a $2000 stipend for planning, implementation, and follow up of an afternoon summer camp the week of June 24th – 28th in Burlington. The total time commitment is approximately 40 hours.

The position will receive support from our staff to engage middle school youth in building performance and public speaking skills, learn pre-written skits (on medication safety, tobacco prevention, etc.), and perform them for younger audiences. All costumes and materials for performances will be provided.

The skits are from a series of evidence-based Samantha Skunk Program presentations which use animal characters to share prevention messaging. With the help of other characters in the story, Samantha Skunk learns valuable lessons about medication safety, tobacco prevention, and other drug use education. The position will support students to revise and enhance the skits as needed for maximum impact. Interested parties please reach out to Jessica Summer at 802-652-0997 or
