We educate. We advocate. We collaborate. We provide support.
Substance abuse and dependence is a public health crisis affecting virtually every person in our small community in some way. Through partnerships, community engagement, education, and proven best practices, we work to impact this crisis and reduce the causes and consequences of substance abuse on the city of Burlington. BPHC aims to change the cultural norms that support substance misuse and create opportunities for individuals and partners to work together on strategies to improve policy, practice and community design on both a local and a state level.
We are committed to keeping our community informed of the dangers associated with misuse of alcohol and other drugs and effective prevention strategies. We strive to be a voice for prevention in Burlington by supporting our community leaders and policy makers to make informed decisions to improve local and state practices, policies, and laws.
Educating and advocating for sound public health policies remains essential work in preventing substance abuse and addiction. Focus and efforts must prevent drug use and addiction at the source – where potentially addictive products flow into and are promoted in our neighborhoods and communities.
