You can change Burlington’s FUTURE

But we need your support NOW

Fundraising thermometer GOAL $100,000. 68% of goal reached, $68,000

After 18 years of serving our community, we are facing an unprecedented loss of federal funding.

We need to raise $100,000 by September 2025 in order to preserve Burlington’s sole substance misuse prevention coalition and the work we do to support public health.

Headshot of Megan Peek, BPHC Board Chair

“I’ve seen firsthand how the Burlington Partnership for a Healthy Community strengthens Burlington through effective substance use prevention. Without BPHC, critical gaps in support and advocacy would leave Burlington residents, youth and families more vulnerable. Supporting BPHC is an investment in a healthier and more resilient community.”

Headshot of Senator Martine Laroque Gulick

“As a member of the Senate Health and Welfare Committee and Burlington School Board Member, I know how incredibly important it is to make early investments in prevention. When we invest in healthy communities it pays off with better health outcomes and lower costs down the road. If we were to lose BPHC, I worry we would see the consequences of that loss reflected in a decline in the health and wellbeing of our children. We would end up paying downstream in many incalculable ways.”

What’s at stake

Our coalition's recent loss of federal grant funding has created a significant budget gap that, despite cost-cutting measures, threatens our ability to provide essential programs and expertise to Burlington's youth, schools, policymakers, and broader community. Without immediate support, we risk losing momentum on the long-term prevention strategies that have been years in the making.

While critical attention is focused on responding to the substance addiction crises, a more effective solution lies upstream in the proactive prevention of substance misuse. Evidence shows that early substance use under the age of 18 increases the likelihood of long-term struggles, making it vital to establish policies, practices, and education that prevent youth use before it starts.

We invite you to invest in this crucial work with us, building a safer, healthier community by strengthening the systems and norms that reduce high-risk behaviors and will help youth and the community thrive.

  • Burlington focused work to improve the policies and systems contributing to high-risk substance misuse public health harms.

  • Public education and awareness of important substance use issues and emerging trends.

  • Tobacco cessation support for residents who are ready to quit.

  • Caregiver tips and tools to help kids make healthy choices.

  • Youth leadership opportunities and youth voice in local health issues that impact kids.
