BPHC Co-authors District Letter to Caregivers

Our Coalition Director recently collaborated with middle and high school Student Assistance Professionals to create a letter for the Burlington School District that went to all caregiver households concerning the use of nicotine products among our students. It provides essential insights into how products like "vapes," nicotine pouches, and others are being marketed to and used by youth across all social groups.

We encourage families to read the letter to help understand the specific health risks for the developing adolescent brain. Nicotine can impact learning, mood, and anxiety—and to learn about the alarming presence of high-potency nicotine and even fentanyl-laced products in our community.

Beyond just the facts, the letter outlines concrete local resources, including contact information for school support staff who offer "Nicotine Quit Kits" and free coaching services to help our students make healthy choices.
